This coin commemorates the ninth consulate of Constantius II, who is depicted in consular robes at the start of the inaugural games held on 1 January. Therefore, in his right hand he holds the mappa, a cloth that the emperor would throw down on the sand to signal the start of the events.

On the obverse, bust of Constantius II wearing consular robes and a pearl diadem with gem. In his right hand, he holds the mappa, and in the left, a short sceptre crowned with a globe. Surrounding the figure, the legend FL(avius) IVL(ius) CONSTANTIVS P(ius) F(elix) AVG(ustus) and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the reverse, enthroned personifications of the cities of Rome (on the right with a spear) and Constantinople (on the left with a sceptre and a foot resting on a prow). Between the two, a shield with the inscription VOT(is) XXXV MVLT(is) XXXX. Surrounding the figures, the legend FELICITAS ROMANORVM and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the exergue, the letters R(omae) S(acra) M(oneta) P(ercussa) and a palm.
