On the obverse, draped and cuirassed bust of Valens with peal diadem with gem, surrounded by the legend D(ominus) N(oster) VALENS P(ius) F(elix) AVG(ustus) and a beaded rim. On the reverse, the emperor, standing and wearing military dress, holding a standard with a Christogram (labarum) in his right hand and, in his left, a globe crowned by Victoria who offers him a crown of laurels. Surrounding the figure, the legend RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE and a beaded rim. On the exergue, S(acra) M(oneta) NI(comediensis).
