A coat rack by one of the leading artists of modernism, Antoni Gaudí. It is a piece of furniture and interior decoration that belonged to Casa Dalmases, of medieval origins, converted into one of the few Baroque palaces, located on Carrer Montcada in Barcelona. Later, in 1907 the house would be extended by Lluís Domènech i Muntaner.

Gaudí designed the carpentry and furniture for several of the houses and buildings he had built, plus some commissions. Away from any previous canon, he designed and made partition screens, stained glass windows, mirrors, benches, chairs, clothes hangers, lamps, counters and other elements.

The parasol is a unique piece and was made based on a design by Antoni Gaudí in the forge and ceramics workshop of the Sagrada Família, in 1916.
Modernism represented a break with previous styles because it was inspired by nature and incorporated new materials derived from the industrial revolution, such as glass, wrought iron and ceramics.
