After the death of Antoninus Pius (161), for the first time in the history of Rome, a pair of emperors ascended to the throne: Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. Future generations would highlight the harmony and concord of these co-emperors.

On the obverse, bust of Marcus Aurelius, surrounded by the legend IMP(erator) CAES(ar) M(arcus) AVREL(ius) ANTONINVS AVG(ustus) and a beaded rim. On the reverse, Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus, standing facing each other, clasping hands. Surrounding the figures, the legend CONCORDIAE AVGVSTOR(um) TR(ibunitia) P(otestate) XV and a beaded rim. On the exergue, CO(n)S(ul) III.
