On the obverse, frontal cuirassed bust of Theodosius II with a helmet and a diadem of pearls, with a spear on his right shoulder and, on his left, a shield decorated with a biga. Surrounding the emperor, the legend D(ominus) N(oster) THEODOSIVS P(ius) F(elix) AVG(ustus) and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the reverse, enthroned personification of Constantinople, with a helmet, a globe crowned by a cross in his right hand and a long sceptre in his left, shield at the side. On the right of the throne, a star and, beneath the left foot the prow of a vessel. Surrounding the figure, the legend VOT(is) XXX MVLT(is) XXXX and a very deteriorated beaded rim. On the exergue, CON(stantinopoli) OB(ryzum) H, i.e. minted in Constantinople from pure gold at oficina H.
