One of the first painters to approach landscape directly from nature, en plein air. He started from rural naturalism at the workshop of his master, Ramon Martí Alsina, with whom he would remain friends, but he progressively stripped away the superfluous elements from the landscape, gradually evolving towards a freer, lighter and more modern approach.
