On the obverse, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian, surrounded by the legend HADRIANVS AVG(ustus) CO(n)S(ul) III P(ater) P(atriae) and a beaded rim. On the reverse, figure of the goddess Spes, enthroned, holding a flower in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left. Surrounding the figure, the legend SPES P(opuli) R(omani), i.e. “Hope of the Roman people”.
