Incense Awakening Dragon. An incense stick burns for a certain time; on it hang pairs of bronze balls tied with a string that will burn when the time comes and will warn the user with the sound of their fall.

Fire watches. The close relationship between heaven and earth also conditioned the colors and musical notes; certain notes played out of time could unbalance the cosmos and certain numbers could not be used for numbering the hours due to their sacred nature. The passage of time in China was also related to tastes and smells and other states of nature, without forgetting the rigid behaviors conditioned by the seasons and the calendar; nor could the emperor escape the obligations that were signaled at every moment of the year.
